Barks & Bites: Backyard Defense
A downloadable game for Windows
A 3D dog survival / bullet-heaven roguelite built in Godot 4.6 + C#. Procedurally composed music, procedurally generated 3D models, no asset store. Every system — from card balance to dog stats to boss attacks — was tuned by hand.
Several updates planned for the game from additional dog breeds, additional enemies, more maps, improved music and sound effects. Also working on an unlimited level that you can just play tell you die. Lot's to come this is not just a 1 and done.
Pick your dog (7 breeds, 3 free, 4 unlock with Street Cred)
- The Mutt - The Beagle Pup - The Old Hound - The Retriever - The Chihuahua - The Bulldog. - The Good Boy
Every breed has its own starting weapon, its own passive speed, HP, damage, body scale, and tint making them all distinct.
Four yards, increasing difficulty
Yard: The Backyard
Boss: Giant Cat
Yard: The Front Yard
Boss: Giant Cat (charge variant)
Yard: The Neighbors' House
Boss: Giant Cat (summon variant)
Yard: The Dog Park
Boss: THE KAREN Clear a yard to unlock the next.
Difficulty — your way, two layers
- Global difficulty (Easy / Normal / Hard) chosen on the main menu. Affects enemy HP, contact damage, spawn pace, and Street Cred payout. Stacks on top of yard difficulty.
The card system — what makes this not just another Brotato
Every few levels, you pick 1 of 3 cards. Cards stack permanently for
the rest of the map — and the cards you win in earlier runs carry
forward as starting equipment in later runs (more cards the more yards
you've cleared).
Eleven distinct weapons and ten passives. Stacks of the same weapon buff both damage and range.
Music, your way
Three procedurally composed theme tracks — Lazy Sunbeam, Porch Swing,
Zoomie Time.
Settings → Music lets you:
- Shuffle all (default)
- Lock a single track you want to hear for the whole run
- Disable tracks you don't want in the rotation
- Adjust volume independently from SFX
All music is original. All sound effects are procedural.
Profile select, per-player save - "Who's playing?" picks up where you left off, per profile. Each player gets their own Street Cred, achievements (18 wired), yard clears, and music preference.
